One Month Already?

Well, we made it one month so far! Let’s recap. We came to Rome with far too few clothes, far too many heels, no place to live and no clue what was in store. Brava. After one week, we found a home and made a friend. At two weeks, we hated Rome (for its red tape), doubted our decision and wanted to go home. At three weeks, I was wearing heels, we were cheering for the home team and posing like we weren’t tourists. At four weeks, we paid another months rent, discovered a new park and fell in love with Roma all over again.

That sounded dumb and boring. But for us it wasn’t! We’ve cried (okay, I’ve cried), we’ve laughed, made new friends, discovered new places, and found new courage to go after the life we really want.

We haven’t really celebrated…yet. Instead, we woke up early, checked out a larger flat outside of Trastevere, discovered the coolest park yet (post/pics later), wandered around said park marveling and getting sunburnt, and came home and had a gelato. That’s when we realized we’ve had a gelato EVERYDAY for the past SEVEN days. Sometimes for dinner! HA! That’s what living in Rome is all about! Doing whatever we want!

Today we decided we want to stay here for years! But we’ll see…on Monday we find out if my papers are acceptable! Eek!!!! In bocca al lupo!

Gelato at Fassi, the oldest gelateria in Rome (1880). Nick always get Frutta di Bosca (blackberry) and Nocciola (Hazelnut). My fav is Ciocollato and Limone!

  1. I think you are having a wonderful experience. The unknown can be scary at times but I think you are making memories that few people get a chance to do.
